Points of contact

Contact persons – General information

Regional contacts are the heart of the DSCM e.V. The self-help work to date has shown that many people affected by syringomyelia and Chiari malformation and their relatives have a great need to exchange experiences with like-minded people. Would you also like to stop facing the many questions alone and instead benefit from the experiences of other patients and relatives? We will be happy to put you in touch with other affected people and answer your questions.

Help for patients and relatives

The diagnosis of syringomyelia and / or Chiari malformation and the associated change in life situation causes a variety of personal problems and raises numerous questions. Sharing experiences with other sufferers can be a decisive help here. Contact with a regional group is an opportunity for many sufferers to support each other and overcome problems. They talk about their experiences with the
medical care and about the everyday, social and personal side effects of their illness. They find support in the group.

Contact persons

In order to ensure regional help and support as well as the exchange of information, our contacts in the various national or local groups are at your disposal. You can find more details in the menu under Contact or on the pages of the individual groups. Support for those affected is provided by telephone, at group meetings and via the Internet.

Group meeting

Knowledge about the disease is what counts at the group meetings. It’s not just about complaining about what ailment is bothering you again today, but about accepting and embracing a problem so that you can solve it. The practical tips, empathy and imagination in dealing with the illness, and especially the experience gained from living with it, are a valuable help in coping with the illness.
